All because Obama supported racial equality in college. White people so fucking mad off that shit. Your privilege is showing, shawty.

Yeah, I’m missing the bombshell myself, Soledad - Oop who happens to be another Harvard graduate at that! Oop!

So I’m not gonna lie I’m extremely scared/confused at this video and the general anti-intellectualism in American politics. Do people not understand what theory means? Do people not understand that law students read critical race theory in basically all law schools in the country (and globally) as one of THE MANY legal theories they learn as part of their training? And Derrick Bell was one AGAIN OF MANY Black scholars who have asserted that Civil Rights laws and gains from the Civil Rights era were ineffective in changing race relations in this country. [Like… my entire dissertation is based on that premise, because it’s fucking true!] I’m confused (and then I’m not) as to why people are so frightened by the fact that our president is so well educated. I’m also annoyed at people who don’t even bother to READ these things before they start spouting this crazy. No wonder these people don’t want us to send our kids to college, cause if that dude had been in my class I would have gone off about his skim job. Google is your friend, but you can’t be talking to me about what Derrick Bell believed and then pass off your interpretation of critical race theory as its definition. (BIG. ASS. DIFFERENCE.)

I wouldn’t say that many people read critical race theory in law school because I know more than half my class never read anything of the sort unless they took a class with Derrick Bell or one of the other few faculty of color at NYU, but I will say I was shocked and appalled to see Jon Stewart referring to Professor Derrick Bell as “a radical academic” last night on The Daily Show. It’s clear that basically no one speaking on television has read his work or know anything about the man.

I never studied critical race theory in law school. (yes I went to law school).
